HR Professionals Day 2026
Today is HR Professionals Day and even though it falls on a Saturday this year, we couldn’t let the occasion pass without celebrating the people who make HR what it is.
At Hello People Solutions, we’re proud to be a team of HR professionals. But perhaps more importantly, we’re proud of the difference we make to the businesses, managers and employees we work with.
Because HR isn’t just about policies, contracts, employment law or dealing with difficult situations. It’s about people. It’s about listening, understanding, finding practical solutions and being there when businesses need support.
And that’s exactly what we strive to do every day.
What does an outsourced HR partner really look like?
For us, being an outsourced HR partner means becoming a genuine extension of our clients’ teams.
Our clients have access to experienced HR professionals who can support them with everything from day-to-day HR advice and employee relations through to more complex matters such as restructuring, redundancies, TUPE, change management and employment law.
But professional HR support isn’t simply about knowing the rules.
It’s about knowing how to apply them in the real world.
Every business is different. Every employee situation is different. That’s why our approach is practical, straightforward and tailored to the individual business without unnecessary jargon or complicated solutions.
Whether a client needs ongoing 360° outsourced HR support, help with a particular HR challenge or specialist consultancy for a complex project, our aim is always the same: to give them confidence, peace of mind and the space to focus on running their business.
So, what do our HR professionals think about working in HR?
We asked the Hello People team to share some of their thoughts and experiences, and their answers give a great insight into what working in HR is really like.
If you're thinking about a career in HR, what would your top tip be?
One team member summed it up perfectly:
“Learn how to be able to juggle lots of plates! Not everyone will listen to your advice, and that is OK, and most importantly, take time out for yourself.”
And the other answer?
“Go for it!”
We think those two answers probably say quite a lot about HR.
It’s a career that requires resilience, adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities. But it’s also incredibly rewarding.
What makes a HR career rewarding?
When we asked about career highlights, there wasn’t one particular achievement that stood out.
Instead, it was the difference HR professionals can make.
“I don't think there is one thing, it's the ‘thank you’ and knowing you have helped someone whether that's an individual employee, a manager or a business owner.”
And for Amanda, the highlight has been:
“Growing a successful HR Consultancy business and knowing that HR is making a difference to our clients.”
That really captures what we’re about at Hello People Solutions.
Good HR should make a difference; whether that’s helping a business navigate a difficult situation, supporting a manager through a challenging employee issue, helping someone develop in their career or simply giving a business owner reassurance that they’re doing things properly.
No, we don't just “sack people”!
There are some classic misconceptions about HR.
So, naturally, we had to ask the team what people think they do when they say they work in HR.
The answers?
“That we just sack people!”
And:
“Tell people off!”
Thankfully, there is rather more to it than that!
From recruitment and onboarding to employee engagement, performance, wellbeing, development, employment law, people planning, payroll and organisational change, HR touches almost every part of the employee journey.
And that variety is one of the reasons our team loves what they do.
HR, or “The People Team”?
We also asked whether the team liked the term HR.
While there was some recognition that “HR” remains the most familiar term, one response particularly stood out:
“I prefer the term ‘The People Team’. I believe the term portrays our people-centred approach including our focus on supporting employees, building positive relationships and creating a great employee experience!”
We couldn't agree more.
At Hello People Solutions, we believe effective HR should be people-centred while also understanding the commercial needs of a business.
It’s about balancing the two.
Because when people feel supported, businesses can thrive, and when businesses have the right structures, processes and support in place, their people can thrive too.
Versatile. Challenging. Collaborative.
So, what three words would our team use to describe working in HR?
The answers were:
Versatile. Challenging. Collaborative.
And:
Varied. Multi-tasking. Resilient.
It’s a pretty accurate description of life at Hello People Solutions.
No two days are the same. One minute we could be advising on an employment issue, the next helping a client with recruitment, reviewing contracts, supporting a manager or working on a much bigger people project.
That’s why experience matters.
Our team brings a breadth of Human Resources knowledge and experience, but just as importantly, we understand that our role is to work with our clients, not simply tell them what to do.
Celebrating the people behind Hello People Solutions
HR Professionals Day is a great opportunity to recognise the people who work in HR the people who often sit behind the scenes helping businesses navigate some of their most challenging and important people decisions.
At Hello People Solutions, we’re incredibly proud of our team and the professionalism, expertise and care they bring to their work.
Amanda, Gemma, Paula, Chelsea, Jess, Abbie and Aleesha are all fantastic HR professionals.
We may be an outsourced HR team, but for our clients, we aim to feel like much more than that.
We become a trusted extension of their business.
A sounding board when they need one.
A calm voice when things get complicated.
A source of practical, honest advice.
And, sometimes, simply the person at the end of the phone who knows what to do next.
So, this HR Professionals Day, we’d like to say a huge thank you to our team for everything you do for our clients and their people.
Because one thing is clear from our conversations: getting your HR right makes a big difference for everyone.
Happy HR Professionals Day from all of us at Hello People Solutions!
